A movement for change for
patients with chronic pain

We were honoured to attend — and to serve as an official sponsor of — the launch of the National Pain Alliance by Chronic Pain Australia, held at Parliament House, Canberra.

The National Pain Alliance is a collaborative initiative bringing together organisations from across Australia to advocate for the recognition of chronic pain as a national health priority in policy, data collection and healthcare planning. Working alongside government, clinicians, researchers and community organisations, the Alliance is working to improve awareness, coordination and access to care for the millions of Australians living with chronic pain every day.

The presentation brought home the scale of what's at stake:

• 1 in 5 Australians live with chronic pain
• 64% are unable to work because of it
• 74% report declining mental health as a result
• Many wait years before receiving a diagnosis

We were privileged to meet representatives from Chronic Pain Australia, MS Australia, Musculoskeletal Health Australia, Endometriosis Australia and many other organisations doing extraordinary work in this space.

But it was listening to individuals openly share their lived experience of chronic pain that left the deepest impression. Their stories spoke not only to the physical toll of pain, but to the quiet burden of not being seen or believed — of suffering that goes unrecognised. It was humbling, and it reminded everyone in the room why this work matters.

SD Laboratories was founded to help people living with chronic pain achieve better outcomes through holistic care centred on sleep quality and sleep posture. Being part of this launch — surrounded by the stories, the courage and the shared vision to improve recognition, care and quality of life for the 5.4 million Australians living with chronic pain — was deeply inspiring, and only strengthens our commitment to this cause.
